History of the Fergus Lions Club Home Show
In the mid 1970’s, a recently formed Lions Club in Fergus made a major financial commitment towards the construction of a Sports Complex. In order to help fund this undertaking, the Club organized the first Home Show.
The year was 1978 and this event has been held successfully on an annual basis growing in size and stature each year. In 2015 the Show hosted over 150 Exhibitors with over 200 booths. Along the way, the Club introduced a Friday Night Fish Fry catered this year by the Fergus Curling Club,, serving Georgian Bay whitefish. A popular seating arrangement allowed Exhibitors to eat early in order to return to their booths for opening on the final night of the Show.
The show runs Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 6 until 10 PM (May 10th, 11th and 12th in 2017). We promote the show throughout Wellington County and surrounding municipalities using community TV, radio and print media and to ensure complete coverage, we distribute a 12 page flyer to 48,000 homes. Space is made available for exhibitors to participate with us.
Admission to the Show is free. The public is encouraged to make a contribution to the Local Food Bank.
An Exhibitors Application is on the web site with pricing and other terms of participation.
