The Fergus and Marsville Lions Club are meeting “virtual” and our 2021 annual Walk for Dog Guides is almost 100% on-line. In past years we canvassed our neighbors and friends and many of you became “walkers” in our fund raiser for Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.
Over the last 15 years you have helped raise a total over $150,000 and that went a long way to raising and training assistance dogs, that are given free of cost, to a Canadian with disabilities.
(For that, we Lions thank you)
We can’t go door-to- door with pledge sheets as Covid-19 has stopped all that; but the puppies being trained are growing and have to be fed and cared for. Lions Foundation of Canada in Oakville is working under very difficult circumstances to raise and train the dogs needed. The demand is great as 2020 saw a shut-down of many aspects of this national program.
The Lions are asking you to go on-line and join the 2021 “Virtual Walk” and show your support. Walk your dog or your “virtual dog” in a physically distance manner, or lift weights, or run on your treadmill, or dance in your living room. Your virtual activity and pledge on-line will provide real dollars to enable Lions to assist Canadians with medical or physical disabilities by providing them with one of these remarkable dogs.
On the brand new website is listed our Fergus and Marsville teams. We want to acknowledge your local support and the site would love to receive pictures of your Virtual Walk and you can even post your physical activity for Dog Guides.
100% of the funds raised go directly to the program and tax receipts will be issued for all donations $25 and over.
We want to thank our local corporate sponsors and acknowledge Pet Valu corporation who support the Walk and donate puppy food and other supplies during the year.
Thank you Centre Wellington
